| Welsome. I have always been a proponent of a barrel kit. Allows you to size the barrel to whatever paint the fields have. 1st question would be what is your budget for a barrel? With that info we can make better suggestions. | |

| Welcome aboard! Depending on your budget I would say a J&J ceramic, I have the 14inch and love it. But like Tuf said if you can a barrel kit helps a lot. | |

I had a J&J ceramic for a while and loved it. But then a few years ago they started making paint smaller and smaller. Smaller paint doesn't break in your barrel as easy. Not a huge amount smaller, but enough to effect your accuracy. Went from average of .691 down to .678. Doesn't seem like much, but that's enough to drop your FPS by as much as 50 fps if you chronoed with larger paint. That's when I switched to a kit. That and using field paint, you never know what they are going to have at the FPO fields. You will waste more air with mismatched paint since it takes more air to get the ball moving the same speed due to bleed off of air around the ball.

| J&J Edge starter kit. Awesome starter barrel kit , comes with 3 backs, and 1 front, with a zipper case. On sale for $50. I got mine for over $100 a couple years ago. http://www.paintball-discounters.com/i/4538/j-j-ceramic-starter-edge-barrel-kit.htm Best deal I could find with some Google Fu. That is what I would get. I don't think you will find a barrel kit anywere for anywere near that price. Just get the Model 98 kit. Your handguard will be a little loose around it, but I used to wrap the barrel tip with electrical tape were it meets with the shroud and it will tighten it up. And you can't see the tape since it blends in. | |

| welcome to the forum
the apex barrel is ok, the barrel is crap the apex is cool but you can get an adpator to mount the apex2 on your J&J barrel if you were looking to go that way
Apex2 takes some time to get use to but once you do its a fun little device playing around with the curves

| I have a CP Classic 12", .685" barrel now and it shoots absolutely fantastic with Draxxus Tournament or midnight paint. | |
