Charging handle too short?

Hey guys, I ordered a charging handle online. The only problem with it is that the part where the rod gets pulled back is not far enough to actually catch the pin. It's too short so the pin cannot even get to the stop. I can post pictures of the charging handle but I can't post it showing the length of it compared to the AB because I just painted the shells where I cut the handle off. Here's a pic of the charging handle where the problem is:

Now my idea was to fill it up with JB weld and cut out the middle to make it so the pin can slide back and fourth through it.


Gramps told me in the chat box that if there is enough room left over, to cut it out, may work as well.

What do you think?

Sounds like a plan dude.
But detailed pics with the handle next to the reciever would be better.
