PostSubject: Good stock and grip setup + stance = better shooting[pic heavy!]   Good stock and grip setup + stance = better shooting[pic heavy!] EmptyThu Jul 12, 2012 3:00 am

I recently posted a thread on foregrip usage styles and just thought I'd go all in and post a shooting theory related thread for rifle setup/grip/stance. Here we go... 🇳🇴

I'll start off with rifle setup. I use the 'Sword Analogy' and 'Thumb Over Bore' setup taught by Magpul Dynamics.
The first thing you want to do is get your stock setup correctly. Hold the pistol grip of our marker/rifle with your primary shooting hand and make your elbow a 90 degree angle. Adjust your stock to go down to the crease of your arm on the inside your elbow. For most people this should be the whole way out on a CAR-stock(gun is held in left hand in pictures because I had to take the picture with my right hand).

For foregrip placement I would recommend pretty far out. Having it further out should help you with stability and control. It may feel uncomfortable at first but you should get used to it.

I've already done a writeup on forgrip usage(this) but I'll do a quick review:
Thumb Over Bore/Thumb Break(#1 in other thread)

VFG(#2 in other thread)

Magwell Grip(#3 in other thread)

A strong stance is the key to a good shot. I utilize the square stance favored by many competition shooters.
Put feet at 45 degree angle.

Place feet at shoulder distance apart.

Move left foot forward about one foot.

Straighten right leg and bend left leg placing most of your weight on it leaning into the shot.

(If left handed shooter use opposite footing)

Nice psp...great multi-view pics!

I do feel I have more control of my marker with a shorter stock length than the magpul method. Much quicker ready to shoulder/aim distance.

Great job!
