How to get rid of the factory gas line Empty
PostSubject: How to get rid of the factory gas line   How to get rid of the factory gas line EmptyThu Apr 12, 2012 12:08 pm

OP: Stormshadowz

**IMPORTANT** this is for remote coil users only

Wouldnt a Project Salvo or an Alpha Black look sooo much better without the factory gas line ? Now you can do it with about an hour of time with the right tools and for about 4 bux in parts plus a visit to either Lowe's or Home Depot

Tools:
Allen wrenches
combination wrenches (I used a 7/16)
small crescent wrench
electric disc sander (a file if you dont have one)
dremel with a grinder bit (this tool is essential )
drill with 1/8, 1/4, 3/8 drill bits

Materials:
Spare Remote coil ( or if you can get the nipple part that would be cool)
1 brass 1/8" 90 degree mpt X fpt elbow (Watts parts# A-712)
Teflon tape

Lets begin.....

Step 1

Take the marker apart...make sure you dont lose any of the springs, pin, allen screws and remember where they go

Step 2

with the power tube still attached to the right receiver half ...remove the gas line using a 7/16 wrench. Once removed you can now remove the power tube from the receiver and attach the 1/8" 90degree mpt X fpt elbow to the power tube (dont forget to put Teflon tape around the threads). The female part of the elbow need to be facing away from you when you install the power tube back on to the right receiver half.

Should look like this when attached properly.

Step 3

Now you will have to grind away the corner of the walls where the factory line ran along. You want to do this to both halves in order for the power tube and its new addition ( brass elbow) to fit when it come to putting everything back together. You will probably have to grind away at the actual elbow some as well and speaking of elbow the female part will have to be ground down some (at least a 1/16"). I had to grind some then but the power tube and receiver halves back together several times before i got it all to fit nice

Circle is what part needs to be ground down. take off about a 1/16...and 1/8 is pushing it...dont want to get into the threads!!! Also you may want to take some off the top of the elbowHow to get rid of the factory gas line Dscn0772l

Step 4

Now that you have everything fitting right..it time to drill our hole. Re-install the power tube (like everything was going back into place) and now mark the edges of the elbow.Remove the power tube and now mark a center.Once you have a center marked use you drill and start off with an 1/8 drill bit..then 1/4 and then 3/8...you may have to "waller" out the hole some with the 3/8. Again this may take a few tries until you get the hole the right size for the remote nipple to fit from the other size.

It should look like this on the other side

Step 5

Leak test time.....best time to do it with everything still apart. Just add some teflon tape to you remote nipple and install using a wrench ( i used a 7/16). Once tightened down plug in your remote line/ tank. If there is a leak..un do the fitting and add more teflon tape. i usually go twice over. You're golden if theres no leak. PLEASE make sure the receiver halves are clean as well as the power tube when you put everything back together and dont forget to re oil whatever parts need re oiling...Test fired great!

*note already had everything done and put back together*
And yes...with the cyclone feed unhinged the piston housing does clear the fitting
