Barrel adaptors Empty
PostSubject: Barrel adaptors    Barrel adaptors EmptyMon May 28, 2012 11:09 pm

I was just wondering if I were to get some type of barrel that you can change bore sizes (freak, J&J Edge, Hammerhead ect.) would an adaptor affect the accuracy for these? I may be getting an A5 from one of my brothers teammates and I would want to switch these barrels between the A5 and my PS without having to buying extra fins or backs. I'm kind of leaning towards the freak just because I can get a Apex adaptor since I already own the Apex2.

The only problem I've personally ran into with adapters was one left a small gap between it and my iFit. I ended up buying a 98 threaded nub that fits into my A5. So now I just use the 98 ifit back and any of my 98 barrels.

alright thanks man. i just wasnt sure since the barrel would be a smaller bore than the adaptor if the ball would break when going into the barrel

I did notice when I used my adapter that my shots didn't seem as consistent as when I just used the iFit. The only breaks my A5 has ever had was because of that gap I mentioned. Once I found that out I switched out the nub and it still hasn't had any breaks. Trust me, cleaning that cyclone is not a fun task.

Yea that's what I would be worried about is more breaks especially with a hammerhead. I heard it's a nightmare to clean the grooves

I dunno kinda wanna look into paint sizes cause hammerhead only came with the 3 basic sizes, .687 .688 .689 if I remember correct. So may just have to invest in another if the paint here is smaller. According to the paint sizing charts most of the paints my field uses are still in range though. Not sure how old the chart I was looking at is though. I definately need accuracy though so my barrel fit is a big thing for me.

Yea I found some J&J edge kit in amazon from 75-90. I kind of like those because the ball stays in the fitted part longer

J&J Edge I will have to look into that. Like I said accuracy is of the utmost importacnce to me. I cant pull the spray and pray off it drives me bonkers. Everytime I see someone doing it on the paintball field I get the sound of coins replacing the sounds of the weapon in my head. Cha, cha, ching, ching lol. Paintballs are a wee bit pricy, allthough a heck of a lot cheaper than real ammo.

It seems as though they deal more in full barrel kits, Do you know if they sell larger versions of the M16 style hand guards Envii. Dont wanna end up with 5 extra inches of barrel making my toy like like a nerf launcher >.<

Well I have a project salvo but I think the ab needs the same amount of clearance. Idk if you're asking if you can buy a longer hand guard but from what I can see you can always buy shorter barrels. I know they have 12,14,and 16 inch long lengths. I'm looking at getting a 12 inch with four different backs for an A5.

Well I have a 14 inch barrel and I have a pic of it on mine on here somewhere I'll put it on here when I get home. That's the only think I don't like about the edge is that it doesn't have a tactical look

My other choice woulda been the Custom barrel featured by tippmann cant remember the name but was a 5 piece barrel kit problem is it looked like a speedballers design.

Well the straightline is basically a hammerhead. Hammerhead and tippmann are together now or something? My brother had a hammerhead knock off or something and it shot pretty accurate. He stuck me in the chest with one shot from probably 75 feet away.

Sounds right about where I am gunnin, most of the fields where I play so far are fairly close up. Only problem with the ranges here is a lack of overall scenario play.

I forgot that I had posted the pic on the old forum but this is what mine had looked like with a 14 inch barrel. I dont think the hand guard is really that bad looking.

There are sites that offer different hand guards, rockstartactical.com has some stuff on there

you can always get the shroud like mine and put it on there. I have the Apex2 on mine now but I definitely like the look of the longer barrel. It makes it look a lot more realistic
