All you will ever need to know about vests and rigs Empty
PostSubject: All you will ever need to know about vests and rigs   All you will ever need to know about vests and rigs EmptyTue May 01, 2012 5:13 pm

So this post was originally made by a very good friend of mine to help people from our community of milsim players to give them a choice/taste of the different vests/chest rigs/etc (commonly known as second line gear) available on the market and the different suppliers/brand to look for. The goal is mainly to give you a better quality alternative to the simple plate carrier or chest rig sold at your local proshop. The main goal behind it all is mostly to have you realize that by putting more money in your gear you will end up with a better product and that will last nearly a lifetime.

***Note that this post will be updated now and then as new intel come in***

So these are the different vests choices available for you:

- RIG (Chestrig, RRV, Active shooter, ++) and options:

Chestrig: Example

Chestrig Universal Tactical Vest (integrated pouches): Example

Rhodesian Reconnaissance Vest (RRV): Example

*Option for the back of Chestrig and RRV:

Back Plate Rhodesian Reconnaissance Vest (RRV): Example

MLCS Back Pack (MAP): Example

- PLATE (Plate Carrier, CIRAS):

Plate Carrier: Example

Plate Carrier with Cummberbund: Example

CIRAS Land (Uesd by MARSOC: Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command) : Example

CIRAS Maritime (Also used by MARSOC): Example

- Body Armor

PACA (simple body amour used under your chest rig/RRV): Example

- Other:

LBE: Example

Now here comes the choice of brand for your gear. My personnal choice now goes to real genuine gear with top quality and craftsmanship and even lifetime warranty (does not cover knife and bullet wounds). There is some really good “repro” companies out there, you only got to look around and know where to look, this is where the next 3 lists become really important (the lists are based on personnal experiences, field tests, reviews and different user feedbacks).
To start off, these are the more ‘’repro’’ brand available out here :

- Condor (For the common weekend warrior/paintball player): http://www.condoroutdoor.com/
- Pantac (Superior to Condor in quality) : http://www.pantac-usa.com/
- Flyye (same as Pantac for quality) : http://www.flyyeindustries.com/

Now the REAL DEAL gear wich is used widely by military personnel:

- Eagle Industries (Worn by MARSOC) : http://www.eagleindustries.com/home.php?cat=
- Esstac : http://www.esstac.com/
- Tactical Tailor: http://www.tacticaltailor.com/
- Maxpedition: http://www.maxpedition.com/
- High Speed Gear Inc. (HSGI): http://www.highspeedgearinc.com/
- ATS: http://www.atstacticalgear.com/cgi/commerce.cgi?display=home
- Mayflower: http://www.mayflower-rc.org/
- Vicking Tactics: http://www.vikingtactics.com/
- Blackhawk!: http://www.blackhawk.com/
- 5.11: http://www.511tactical.com/Shop
- Blue Force Gear: http://www.blueforcegear.com/
- Camelback (tactical gear): http://www.skdtac.com/CamelBak_s/24.htm
- Emdom USA: http://www.emdomusa.com/
- Marz Tactical: http://www.marztg.com/
- Patrol Incident Gear (PIG): http://www.patrolincidentgear.com/
- London Bridge Trading (LBT): http://www.londonbridgetrading.com/

Now for the diffrent retailers/ eshop where you can get all those little goodies :

- SKD Tactical: http://www.skdtac.com/
- Tactical Distributors: http://www.tacticaldistributors.com/
- Grey Group: http://stores.greygrouptraining.com/StoreFront.bok
- Triad Tactical: http://www.triadtactical.com/home.php
- Op Tactical: http://www.optactical.com/

* Airsoft Cananda is not a actual eshop/retailer but it is a gold mine for good gear at good price : http://www.airsoftcanada.com/

If you know any other good brand (repro or not) wich should be added to the list PM me I’ll add them up.

Hope this will help many of you and wish you the best beginning of your new paintball era!

Note: This post was translated, if some mistakes or not translated parts still remains let me know please.

Sincerly,

How about MOLLE pod pouches? I've seen some around, but I was wondering what the best ones are.

I'd have to say based on the feedback I had, the WTFPB and Kanucks are the best MOLLE paintball gear you can get. I know some members here are rockin' some of them.
