My 3gun gear Empty
PostSubject: My 3gun gear   My 3gun gear EmptyMon Dec 17, 2012 5:57 pm

So after I stopped playing paintball, I got into USPSA pistol shooting. Started out with a 1911. Now I am building up a 3gun set up. Here is what I have so far:

Pistol: Glock 22 .40S&W
Factory extended slide release & magazine release
Custom trigger job
have new sights and magazine extension on order. The mag extensions will give me 20rnds.

Rifle: Bushmaster XM15-ES2 A3 w/ 20" HB (Heavy Barrel)
MagPul CTR stock
MagPul MBUS rear
MagPul ASAP (Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point)
Cheap red dot sight. (Plan to replace very soon)
MagPul PMags
Magpul MS2 sling
I plan to free float the barrel soon

Shotgun: Stoeger M2000 12 gauge Semi Auto Inertia driven
Nordic Components +6 magazine extension. (gives me 10+1 rounds)
Nordic Components follower
Trigger job
6 rnd side saddle

Vest: Condor MarCIRAS
Lvl IV plates (take them out for competition)
3 double M4 mag pouches
2 pistol mag pouches
12rnd shotgun shell pouch
Admin pouch

Pistol belt: CR Speed
Pistol holster
2 double pistol mag pouches
2 6rnd shotgun shell caddies
10rnd shot shell bandoleer

You may notice I have 3 kinds of shotgun ammo. At different stages, and sometimes within a stage you will need either buckshot, slugs, or birdshot. Mostly birdshot. You have to have a way to keep them straight, that's why I have 3 ways to carry that ammo.

I want to change some pouches, but I am buying up high capacity mags right now just in case there is legislation against them next year. As long as I own them before any potential ban, they will be legal. I do plan to get paintball gear again next year, but want to finish with my real steel 1st, just in case there is a ban.

Now the obligatory gun pron pics:

I haven't put the TruGlo' TFO's on yet. I am doing very well with the standard sights, so don't see much need to change them just yet. I'll do a few other things fist that will give me better gains in the long run.

I mean the red dots. Irons work just fine, but as far as red dots go, tru glos are terrible.

The TruGlo Red Dot is what came with it. It's OK, but not very bright. I have actually taken that off and am using the iron sighst for now, so I had forgotten that was in the pic. I will be replacing it with an Aimpoint PRO at tax time.

.223 / 5.56 ammo is so hard to find right now so I am mainly doing Action Pistol shoots instead of 3gun. 9mm and .45 ACP ammo are really hard to find right now to, but .40S&W seems to still be around here and there. I have been buying up as much as I can lately so I will have plenty to shoot. I have 500rnds of .40 ammo in the safe, but don't want to get below that amount. I am only shooting when I find extra ammo. I use less than 100rnds for each action pistol event. 12 gauge ammo is still everywhere.

There is no .223 anywhere. My dad's friend says it's caused by all the uproar about taxing ammo and banning guns and then all the end of the world theorists.

may want to look at vortex optics, hear really good things about em.

i managed to find some .223, but im payin up to .84/rd as opposed to like .33/rd, wich meant i only could afford to stock up 600 rounds
