PostSubject: Iron sights   Sat Aug 25, 2012 1:01 am

I know iron sights or any sights for that matter don't really do too much but I'm just curious if there are any iron sights that sit high enough to look down? I know a lot of people have the magpul ones and I was wondering if those would work for this? Or maybe if getting small weaver to weaver adaptors to make each site sit higher would be better? The reason I am asking is because I would like to train myself to make it basically a reflex to aim and site using iron sites while also being able to use the front site when arcing shots.

the gun will never shoot accurately enough to warant sights unless ur talkin tiberius FS rounds and FS rifled barrel,..

apart from that, i use my scope as a monocular with relative success.

Well I want at least an aim point. I know it would be spot on but it would give me a a little more defined area of aiming.

What about a half circle style front sight?
Troy industries make some nice large front sights, if that's what your after.

Heres one seller flogging em on eBay.

I'm sure with a bit of hunting, you could find em cheaper.

Dunk that looks pretty spot one. I see both you and Storm both have the flip up sights. I'm guessing they only flip up as high as they are on the pic in your signatures?

And Storm I know the front sight of the scar usually sits on the gas tube? I think that would be the right term for a real gun... So do air soft makers or other gun makers make front sights that sit on picitinny rails? I've seen the sites on the X7 scar and those sit pretty nice.

I'm open to any ideas y'all have. What do y'all think of some cheap airsoft red dots or something?
Maybe like this?

I'm guessing he did David.

You could get a Magpul flip set or troy industries sight then use a very small picatinny riser like this?

That's the other option I'm looking at actually dunk. What height do you think I would need if I do go that route? I've seen 1 inch and .7 inch risers

Just an FYI, most iron sights sit 2 inches above the barrel(including the stock ones). So what your looking for is sights that sit about 3 inches up from the barrel.

I'd go of for the 1inch, but then again it's your call mate.
Like PSP says if it sits 2 inches up & you want 3.

If I was going to have the sight and the riser, I'd proberbley go for the .7.
Just cos I personally think 3 inches would look a bit too high.

I guess I'll have to measure it out while wearing my mask. If it helps I'm left eye dominant so I'm trying to make it as easy as possible to aim with my right eye. Yes it sucks not being able to play left handed effectively

Storm if I wasn't already trying to get a bolt action rifle I would probably consider going mag fed. That and the people I play with would probably kill me if I had to reload more

Go aim left handed with and without a Hopper. Huge difference in your field of vision

Hmm, I'll try it. I don't mind playing left-handed in things. Sometimes it feels more natural but mostly I use my right hand but it's worth a try.
