Deleted posts

We all know that sometimes posts get deleted or moved, cos they're in the wrong topic or wrong format or content for that specific topic.
But some members have just been finding their posts missing with no explanation.

So heres what I'm proposing....

If ever a mod or admin deletes or moves a post for whatever reason.
Then they should have to PM the original poster, informing them of the deletion or move.
Along with a reason, just so we keep our faithfull members happy and they get a clear explanation of why their posts have vanished, to avoid any confusion.
I don't want to turn this into some kind of big issue or anything.
And I know most mods do PM the members with an explanation.
Just thought we could maybe make it standard procedure.

good idea...but sometimes its on the other persons end....it happens to me especially on mobile when i send a post and it doesnt show up...and as far as davids posts missing...i'll admit i deleted like 2 posts about his airsoft idea like last week in the "what you have coming in the mail" thread...he reposted them..i left them and politely said to make an airsoft thread somewhere..that didnt effect his post count LOL...but that was the extent of it...other than that i locked a couple old threads of mine and moved a discussion thread to the appropriate section....wooo go me :)

Sounds good! Anytime I move something, I do PM and also post in the thread. That way they know.

BTW...there have been times where people have gone WAY out of control in MY threads and the discussion does not pertain to the thread in ANY way. I delete them, but have not PMed them. Nothing as of late...that was the old forum.

So members be conscious of that out of respect for those who took the time to post the thread...make sure discussion is relevant! :)

Aslong as we stay relevant to the topics, then our posts won't be altered.
just think it'd be good for those of us guilty of going off topic sometimes, to be given a reason and the same treatment. :)

most times When I delete something, its for a good cause or because its justified
I dont think a PM would be needed, you know the rules, you read the terms and have agreed to them

but then again I think I have deleted a total of 2 posts any ways since we made the jump

The ONLY posts that should be deleted though, are spam posts and super off topic posts
we dont need to be deleting members posts at all, correct them by PM or in thread.

Spam most definately although the spammers haven't hit this site

if its a Flamming or baiting post then also yes
to curb the drama but if you do do that, DO NOT expect an explanation it will be deleted and it will be noted

Anyways this is an ages old problem that exists in every forum and most of us are guilty of going off-topic...some are just notorious for doing it....but once again Arson hit the nail on the head :)

I have cleaned threads out before from people going off topic. hardly ever contact the person unless something they said crosses the line. If the off topic posts get out of hand, I may post something in the thread, but not contact everyone individually. Sometimes that could be 10 or more people.

If your post gets deleted and your not contacted, your fine, just stay on topic.

Okay I understand why a couple of mine were deleted, and storm I know you deleted the two, and I was told. I'm fine with that haha....


the one that pissed me off was the one in the MOTM thread. I literally said something along the lines of "Haha, it's kinda easy to tell who's who, but I voted! :)" or something like that. Why would that be deleted without any notification? I EVEN MADE SURE IT WAS THERE!!! I refreshed the page MULTIPLE times after posting it. I do that on every one of my posts. Why was THAT one deleted?

as like I said I have deleted maybe 2 post since the jump to the new forum
but again

its ONE post, did you loose a contest?
did it make you late for work?
did the world end?

......now some times thing happens, no one is against you and dont think that
some one would delete a post just for the hell of it
could be a glitch.

Okay, I'll just forget about it...but if it happens a couple more times, and only happens to me...I will be mad again haha.
